The City of Ottawa have deployed the first dual diagram school zone VATCS traffic calming solution in Canada as a pilot trial with Dorman Varitext. The City is looking to evaluate this unique approach with a view to potentially rolling out the VATCS across the City to help address the challenge of providing the safest possible routes to school for students living and studying in the capital.

It has not taken long for word on the trial to spread and other municipalities in the province to try out the technology for themselves with the recently installed School Zone VATCS on Shellard Lane in the City of Brantford and the soon to be installed School Zone VATCS on the Guelph City Limits by the Township of Guelph and Eramosa. This is the townships second deployment, being one of the first municipalities to deploy the posted speed limit VATCS in the fall of 2006.
